At Paragon Physiotherapy Centre, our Remedial Massage therapy goes beyond simple relaxation. We provide targeted, therapeutic deep tissue work designed to resolve muscular imbalances, speed up recovery, and leave your body feeling completely rejuvenated.

UNDERSTANDING REMEDIAL MASSAGE

What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial massage is a systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain management, and injury management. Unlike a standard spa massage, our qualified therapists use specialized techniques like deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release to address the specific biomechanical causes of your muscle pain.

Targeted Soft-Tissue Therapy Specialized techniques designed around rehabilitation, pain management, and injury management.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does a remedial massage have to be painful to work?
No. While we do use deep tissue techniques to release stubborn knots (which can cause a "good hurt" sensation), the massage should never cause you to tense up or hold your breath. We constantly communicate with you to ensure the pressure is perfect.
Can I claim this on my Private Health Insurance?
Yes! Our Remedial Massage therapists are fully qualified and registered, meaning you can swipe your health fund card through our HICAPS terminal for an on-the-spot rebate (depending on your level of extras cover).
How long should I book a session for?
We generally recommend a 60-minute session if you have multiple areas of tension (like your full back, neck, and shoulders). If you just need a quick release on a specific area (like a tight calf), a 30-minute session may be sufficient.
How often should I get a remedial massage?
If you are treating a specific injury, weekly sessions may be required initially. For general maintenance, muscle recovery, and stress relief, a session every 3 to 4 weeks is highly recommended.
Should I stretch before or after a remedial massage?
It is best to stretch *after* your massage. The therapist will have warmed up and released your tight muscles, making post-massage stretching much more effective and safer.
